Email Accounts
Your web presense comes with 20 POP3 email accounts in addition to email forwards and aliases. You have the option to retrieve email directly from POP3 mailboxes on the mail server using an email program such as Eudora, Outlook or Outlook Express, or through Web Email clients accessible through your Control Panel.

Email Aliases, Forwards and Autoresponders
Using email aliases gives you the ability to receive email from multiple addresses. For example you may want to forward all email addressed to [email protected] to another account such as [email protected] or any another POP3 account. The best part about using aliases is that the person emailing you never knows the mail is being redirected. Aliases are easily configured through the Control Panel interface. By using an email autoresponder, you can automatically respond with a pre-determined message to anyone who emails a designated address. Linux OS
Linux is a free Unix-type operating system that is continuously being developed by programmers around the world. Linux is famous for its security and stability and makes a perfect web hosting platform. Tallpath loads all servers with a hardened version of Red Hat Linux configured especially for web hosting.

Apache Web Server
Apache has been the most popular web server on the Internet since April of 1996. It is a powerful, open-source HTTP server that will run on various server operating systems, including Linux. Apache is Tallpath's web server of choice.

MySQL Database
MySQL is a powerful database that is a favorite with web programmers for its performance (very fast) and its price (free). From a simple shopping list to a vast picture gallery MySQL is up to the job. We include access to MySQL with all hosting accounts.

Scripts
Our servers support Perl (a powerful scripting language perfect for CGI scripts) and PHP (a popular server-side, HTML embedded scripting language). Support for Chilisoft ASP and SSI technology for embedding scripts into your web pages is also included. Full access is provided to your cgi-bin (a directory with special permissions to allow the auto-execution of *.pl and *.cgi scripts). CGI is used to accomplish tasks which are not supported by basic HTML such as a hit counter or guest book. You may use this directory to execute any cgi script you write or ones that are already pre-written for you. Tallpath automatically loads a variety of popular, preconfigured cgi scripts with every new domain created on our servers.

Control Panel
Control Panel is a multi-platform, web-based software solution that simplifies and automates the administration of Linux web servers. Control Panel lets non-technical personnel perform a wide variety of administrative tasks - from creating new e-mail accounts to managing entire domains - all with point-and-click simplicity.

FTP Access
Use FTP (File Transfer Protocol) to "upload" your web site files to storage space on our network. You have unlimited access to your domain via FTP to setup, change and manipulate your website. Tallpath's network is compatible with any FTP client you choose to use.

SSH Access
To better protect customer privacy and provide a more secure virtual hosting solution, Tallpath does not support Telnet or SSH terminal connections. All necessary webmaster functions can easily be performed without shell access via the Control Panel interface and a good FTP client.

Website Statistics
Tallpath provides several alternative web server log file analysis programs. They produce highly detailed, easily configurable website usage reports in HTML format, for viewing with a standard web browser. They show you the traffic your site has received, the search engines users queried, what keywords or sentences they typed in to find your website and much more. This is invaluable information when trying to determine if marketing campaigns are paying off.

Bandwidth
For the ultimate in performance, bandwidth is delivered to each server via a full duplex 100Mbps burstable data pipe (the equivalent of approx. 100 T1 lines). Each account is allocated 20GB of bandwidth per month.

Connectivity
Tallpath operates from a fully redundant Tier 1 data center and fiber network. Designed at a carrier level, we have our own IP addresses that are routable across multiple peering partners. This allows us to be our own entity in regards to network connectivity without reliance on any single backbone provider. Performance is delivered starting with a 100Mbps Ethernet port through multiple GigE (Riverstone Networks) routers. Our fully redundant network means the likelihood of a network outage is remote.

UPS Power
All power is regulated by a MGA multi-cell online UPS system and to ensure power during even the longest power outages our data center has its own diesel-powered generators.

SSL
All of our client have built-in secure server access. Any sensitive information, such as credit card numbers, can be encrypted before transmission through a web browser, greatly increasing customer trust when buying from your site. To build additional trust with the end-user, contact [email protected] to install a third party SSL Certificate (purchase required) from VeriSign, Thwarte or others.
